Spoonbill commission.

I really like this guy! He's stalking fish in my pond, the cheeky bird.

Width: 55cm
Length: 30 cm
Depth: 37 cm

CD shards (over 50 CDs used )
Wire mesh frame
Hot glue
Gold paint
1 weeks work (approximately 40 hours)

I use kitchen scissors to cut the shapes I need out of the CDs, then arrange each shard by colour and size. I then hot glue those shards one-by-one to a wire mesh frame (that I shape by hand) to create a natural feather pattern. My sculptures usually take a week to make, maybe longer depending on how motivated I am to get them done!

In answer to some common questions:

These sculptures aren't as sharp as they look — they're only dangerous if you eat them.

I hardly cut myself, but I do burn myself — A LOT.
